The year 2020 has been a challenge to everyone and to some people devastating and difficult. We had to learn to keep our distance from loved ones to keep everyone safe. We faced a new virus outbreak that has cost too many lives already. In the midst of it all, whilst keyworkers were and still are the heroes, everyone's else's help was required to just stay out of the way and let the essential workers do their job and not make it even more difficult for them. Many took to online distractions and recreational tasks. The Bellyfairies kept going throughout the year with a little break in between. Only one live show at the beginning of the year offered the Bellyfairies to dance together on stage with a live audience in February 2020. At the end of March the UK went into their first national lockdown and social distance measures were necessary for everyone to apply. The bellyfairies stopped rehearsing and only picked it up again during the summer months when groups of up to 6 people were allowed to meet outdoors with a 2 meter distance in between. We used the garden to keep rehearsing for pieces we were working on to perform one day again on stage with a live audience. At the time, we did not know when this would be, at this time, we still do not know when this will be. When the days started to get cooler and wetter, the bellyfairies took a break until October 2020 when they started working on a social distance Christmas and New-Years video to end the year in a festive mood.

*** Again a wonderful response to participate in the Belly-Line-Dance for April #StayHome project. Initially, these belly-line-dances created by Sandy Maya were meant for dancers to come together on the dancefloor at Haflas to dance a simple bellydane move combo, line dance style. But since most of the world is in some sort of lockdown mode, we are using these dances to connect dancers from anywhere in the world. A video with the moves break down, as well as a follow along video are being made available by Sandy Maya and any dancer can participate by learning the combo, film themselves performing it at home and send the video to Sandy so she can make a nice compilation of it and with that connect and re-unite some dancer friends. Please note that this workshop is not suitable for beginners. A good understanding of basic bellydance moves and footwork is required for you to enjoy the session.
Sandy will teach you a fairy/pixie themed choreography and the dance will be repeated several times during this workshop to enable you to perform it at the "Dance for Clean Oceans Hafla 2020" on Sunday, 7th June 2019.
Please make sure you are fit to dance, bring water and snacks with you and bear in mind that workshops are different from weekly classes. Learning a whole routine in a few hours is different to learning a choreography during a school term where you have the time to digest the bitesized sections of the whole dance :) But don't fret, it is definitely do-able, but I always like to point out the challenge of a workshop in order to avoid disappointment.
If you like a challenge and have a good grasp of learning a combination of steps, then this workshop is for you. Also note that performing at the Dance for Clean Oceans event is optional, so, no pressure ;)

This digitalAdd-on is meant to help any Vibez student excell in their dance ability.
In class videos are taken to help students learn choreographies taught in class. Sandy is offering this new Add-on service to give students feedback based on that video to help them correct moves, direct them in detail and advise on practice exercises depending on the student's needs. This add on is valid for 5 feedback sessions which come in digital format so the student can view the video and listen to the teacher's feedback and in some cases ( not always a requirement ) receive links and or material to practise moves or combos at home.

The purchase of this service is valid for 5 feedback videos ( length depends on feedback given and if exercises are being added. A video clip can vary in length. Sandy will give concise feedback totally focused on the individual who requests the feedback. It will be structured to help the student improve and master their challenges. The area of improvement will wary from class to class and previous guidelines but Sandy will highlight anything she finds helpful to the individual. The feedback given is not to be valued by length of video as too much feedback may overwhelm the individual and demotivate. Sometimes there will be more feedback than in other sessions but it is at Sandy's discretion and her experience as a teacher to advise and highlight on areas she believes to be of value to the student at that particular time of their learning journey. This add on is not a private 1 to 1 session, a digital file with information is being delivered and if anything is unlcear, a follow up email communication can clarify further.
This add on expires, regardless of complete use of all 5 class feedback sessions, after 2 months of purchase.
Please note that once you purchased this add on, it is your responsibility to "request" your feedback from Sandy before or after class. It is best to receive feedback as close to the class as possible. Feedback from an earlier class may defeat the purpose as the area of improvement may already have been looked at.

This is my artwork channel debut video and I am ever so excited about this. I painted this piece about a year ago for an art exhibition in Reading-UK. When it was exhibited it became apparrent that this painting started "moving" depending on how the light shone on it. The beautiful golden-bronze coloured horse suddenly begins to grow shadow horns or when only a glimmer of ligh hits it, it seems to glisten which reminds me of seeing a overcast-free London by night from a plane. So the idea of making this video has been in my head since then, but I needed an assistant and had not got around to it until now :) I hope you are enjoying this as much as I am :)

So today will be the last crash-course video publication with one more Bellydance drill to follow for your last Wednesday practice before summer. CHANGED SERVICE CHARGE - 21-10-2012
Sandy Maya's Photography has made changes to Service charges. A 1 hour photoshoot now costs £ 15.00 and includes 1 edited image ( additional images will be charged at £ 2.50 per image)
The previous deal was a 1 hour photoshoot for £ 50.00 which would result in 20 edited images. The new agreement will allow more flexibility and more clients will be able to afford this Service.
